Jail Escapee Convicted in Breakout and Kidnapping of Cab Driver
By City News Service Apr 9, 2021 SANTA ANA (CNS) - The first of three Orange County Jail inmates to be tried for a brazen January 2016 breakout was convicted today of kidnapping, a day after he was convicted of the escape, and faces a maximum of nearly nine years in state prison. Bac Tien Duong, 48, was acquitted Wednesday of felony kidnapping for robbery, but found guilty on Thursday of the lesser charge of simple kidnapping. A mistrial was declared Wednesday on a felony count of unlawful taking of a vehicle when jurors split 6-6 on that charge. Attorneys will discuss whether to dismiss it ...
