A longtime Central Valley-based grocery chain has been sold to a private equity firm in Los Angeles.

On Monday, former President Donald Trump's new media company indicated GOP Rep. Devin Nunes (CA-22) will resign from Congress by the end of the year to become the enterprise's new CEO. Nunes isn't the first conservative to exit the House to join the ranks of partisan media combatants, but the fact he's giving up the strong likelihood of chairing the powerful House Ways and Means Committee in 2023 is a sign of the times.

Once a political narrative takes hold, it's hard to dislodge. And, one of the most stubborn of those narratives is that while GOP attacks on Democrats for their support of "defunding the police" and 'socialism' may not have cost Biden the election, it came close to denying House Democrats the House majority.
