Red Bank Commissioners Taking Look At Possible Tax Increase; Civility Training For Commissioners Set On Thursday

Red Bank Interim City Manager John Alexander has received the certified property tax rate from Hamilton County which is $0.9923 per $100 of assessed value of the property. That rate has been approved by the state of Tennessee. The city will set the actual rate for the coming year. Commissioners have the option of using the certified rate or increasing it. There will be a public hearing to decide if .9923 will  be kept or if it will be increased.
 
Commissioner Ruth Jeno said that the average property in the city increased in value by 40 percent with the recent reappraisals by the Hamilton County assessor’s office. Some values she said increased as much as 60 percent. Homeowners with increased appraisals will already be facing a substantial tax increase and that will need to be taken into considerat ....

East Ridge Finalizes Plan To Have 2 Large Liquor/Wine Stores; Developers To Be Chosen By Lottery

The city of East Ridge on Thursday night passed the final version of an ordinance that established the rules and regulations for retail package liquor stores. Some amendments were made to the ordinance that passed on first reading on Jan. 14.
 
The city will be divided into two zones. District A is commercial property between Belvoir Avenue and the Bachman Tunnels.
District B is property with road frontage on Ringgold Road between Moore and Spring Creek Roads. One store will be allowed in each of the two districts. ....
