Built in 1829 for secessionist governor Francis W. Pickens, Edgewood has been the stage for many important periods in Southern history. The house was home to two remarkable women, Lucy Holcombe Pickens and Eulalie Chafee Salley. Lucy was known as the Queen of the Confederacy. Eulalie was a leader in the suffrage movement and one of South Carolina's first female realtors. In the documentary, Edgewood: Stage of Southern History, the house tells the stories of the people who lived, worked and visited the house.
