Liverpool Airport PLAN to expand John Lennon Airport’s runway have been called “nothing short of vandalism” by residents of a nearby village. The long-awaited plans would see the airport’s runway extended east towards the village of Hale, with around 80 acres of green belt being gobbled up in the process. The plans are being backed by Halton Council, which has allocated space for the expansion in its draft Local Plan, but residents of the village itself have spoken out against the runway. Luke Trevaskis, chairman of Hale Parish Council, said: “The proposals outlined in the draft Local Plan are nothing short of an act of vandalism. ....
