Encouraging and providing opportunities for the youth to exercise their rights regarding climate change issues, comes down to education. ACTIVATE! Change Drivers, an NGO with a youth network of 4 500 youth, hosted a Climate Change Imbizo in November, to discuss the Involvement of Youth in Climate Change and Environmental Rights. Organisations participating, included the WWF and Youth@SAIIA. The keynote speaker was NDP 2030 Ambassador and political commentator, Gugu Nonjinge.

Youth activist calls for civil society to be included in Cabinet reshuffle

A youth activist has penned an open letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa, calling for competent and experienced civil society members to be included in the Cabinet. Keagen Gertse, who is part of ACTIVATE! Change Drivers’ youth network, urges Government to consider the needs of all citizens, as opposed to the political needs of a few.
