Statement from Worcester Board of Health on COVID-19 vaccinations We all need to roll up our sleeves! The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating to the health of our community, our state and our nation. Since the onset of the pandemic, COVID-19 has taken the lives of over 14,000 residents of Massachusetts, including over 1,800 of our neighbors, friends and family members in Worcester County. Over the next four weeks, the CDC projects that these numbers will continue to rise, and the national death toll may surpass 500,000. With the availability of highly effective vaccines, we finally have a chance to reduce the risk of illness and death, and to achieve something closer to normalcy in our community and our lives, as more and more of us get vaccinated. That includes being able to be with family and friends, allowing our children to attend school, returning safely to workplaces, and doing so many other things we previously took for granted. ....
