Coast Guard ends search for six boaters missing off Fort Pierce Inlet

FORT PIERCE — The U.S. Coast Guard halted a search late Sunday for six people lost at sea after their boat apparently capsized last week several miles off the Fort Pierce Inlet. Coast Guard officials said Monday a search that began Friday morning ended Sunday around 10:30 p.m. without locating the missing people who were in an estimated 18-foot boat en route from Bimini when it capsized. “The decision to suspend a search-and-rescue case is never one we come to lightly,” said Capt.
