Three San Augustine County residents are behind bars for engaging in organized criminal activity. The San Augustine Sheriff, Texas Rangers, and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations teamed up to locate stolen property, resulting in the arrest of James Bird, Nina Whittington, and Chase McClain. San Augustine residents played a key role in identifying the stolen property and returning it to its rightful owners. The penalties for organized crime, such as the one committed by the three thieves are severe, with sentences ranging from 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a $10,000 fine.
