A Worcester man found guilty in the 2018 execution-style murder of Jose Ortiz was sentenced to life in state prison with maximum parole eligibility of 25 years Wednesday.
The 28-year-old former Stanton Street resident was found guilty of the lesser charge of second-degree murder. The Worcester District Attorney's office was seeking a first-degree murder charge.
A verdict had not been reached by late Thursday afternoon and the jury is set to return to deliberations Friday morning.
He is accused of shooting and killing Jose E. Ortiz in Ortiz's residence.
