The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Central government why all the cheetahs recently translocated to India were only sent to the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
In total, three cubs and three translocated adult African cheetahs have died in the wildlife park in Madhya Pradesh.
After their arrival from South Africa, the 12 cheetahs were served food and water. In the last 46 hours, a team of doctors went to the quarantine enclosures six times for health checkups of the cheetahs, in which they were found to be physically and mentally fit.
The eldest of the twelve cheetahs that were flown into Madhya Pradesh is an eight year-and-three-month-old male, while the youngest is a female which has completed two years and four months, officials said.
