US News: WASHINGTON: The sun is setting on Stumpy, the gnarled old cherry tree that has become a social media phenom.

Stumpy, a scraggly, fan-favorite Japanese cherry blossom tree on the National Mall, is on the chopping block as Washington prepares for a new seawall repair project.

Cherry blossom trees are blooming all over Middle Tennessee, specifically in downtown Nashville. The trees are at about 15% bloom but the plants in the city are blooming faster because of the microclimate.
