On Dec. 14, members of the First Christian Church loaded 52 boxes of food onto trucks to deliver to the Weirton Salvation Army to help offset the hunger caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Gift of Years group, chaired by Paula Brown, decided to ask members to participate in the Reverse Advent Program, in which 24 food items, such as cereal, soup or macaroni and cheese, are placed in a box each day and then given to a food bank. The response was overwhelming, members noted. In addition to donations by the church, members of the Sigma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Sorority also filled boxes, a gesture appreciated. Among those helping were, front row, from left, Pastor Mark Mayer, Janet Ford, Paula Brown, Cathie Yeager, Karen Welsh and Cheryl Kondik, and back, Jimmy Ford, Mason Klink and Rich Blanc. Also helping were Ben Fedoush and Bob Fedoush.
