At the FIDE World Chess Cup 2023, four Indian grandmasters Praggnanandhaa, D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi made it to the quarterfinals in a field of over 250 players.
When Praggnanandhaa became India’s youngest chess grandmaster at the time in 2018, his father said, "He most likely won't even react to the title. To him, playing is about expressing the love he has for the game.”
