Indian River Shores town manager starting; town attorney retiring
Harpring, the retired Sheriff’s Office undersheriff and general counsel, officially began his new job Friday. He succeeds Joe Griffin, who left the position Feb. 26. Griffin, who had been earning $147,700, will assist Harpring during the transition. Finalizing Harpring's contract wasn't the only personnel item discussed by the council Thursday. It learned longtime Town Attorney Chester Clem is retiring. Clem, town attorney since 1977, has lived in the Vero Beach area since 1963.
