Concept of SC/ST,OBC reservation would not apply to minority institutions, says Madras HC

The Madras High Court has ruled that communal reservation, which applies to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other Backward Classes, does not apply to minority institutions. The court allowed an appeal from a college seeking religious minority status and directed the issuance of a Permanent Religious Minority certificate. The court stated that Article 15(5) of the Constitution does not compel minority institutions to admit students from these categories.
