Dinesh Sharma, former deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, is set to enter Rajya Sabha as the only candidate for the upcoming by-elections. The by-election was called after the death of incumbent MP Hardwar Dubey. Sharma, a member of the BJP, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the opportunity. With the BJP s strong majority in the state assembly, Sharma s election is virtually assured.
