(Washington, DC) – On Friday, December 2 at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will hold a press conference at Bitter Grace, located in Barracks Row, to announce the deployment of MPD recruits and cadets for the holiday season and to promote safety in neighborhoods and along business corridors. The Mayor will be joined by Chief Robert J. Contee, III as well as cadets and recruit officers of the Metropolitan Police Department. With more shoppers out this holiday season, the District is working together to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all.

(Washington, DC) – Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser, Chief Robert J. Contee, III of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), and Office of Unified Communications (OUC) Director Karima Holmes highlighted steps the District is taking to ensure a safe, happy holiday season. This year’s strategy includes deploying more than 100 recruit officers and cadets from the MPD Academy to assist, via foot patrol, in business corridors across the city.

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest of the suspect(s), and cameras will soon be installed in the area.

Bedford’s new chief of police says helping people is a top departmental priority. Fisher said in Bedford, “there is solid community work being done every day and there is good police work being done. Our detectives and officers do fantastic jobs.”
