B'luru hospital raises SOS for oxygen shortage
A day after Jammu and Kashmir initiated an inquiry against a private hospital after the deaths of four COVID patients due to a shortage of oxygen, the UT administration has decided to conduct demand and supply audit of the life-saving gas.
"To scientifically ascertain the medical oxygen demand in Jammu and Kashmir, the Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam directed a detailed audit of oxygen demand across all hospitals and medical institutions", the government spokesperson said.
The Chief Secretary has also directed the constitution of divisional level teams to conduct the audit within two days and specify the requirement of gaseous oxygen to meet the needs of patients in COVID facilities, non-COVID hospitals, private hospitals, and Army hospitals.

COVID-19: J&K Tightens Control Measures, 36 Oxygen Generation Plants To Come Up In UT

SRINAGAR: While chairing a high-level meeting on Friday to review the public health response to COVID-19, Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam urged the administration to remain vigilant and tighten the implementation of existing control measures and SOPs in order to reverse the upward trend.
In light of the recent increase in COVID infections, the Chief Secretary urged officers to strictly enforce the testing, vaccination, tight containment zone regulation, and promotion of COVID-appropriate behavior among the general public to avoid a further increase in cases.
Informing the respective district administrations that some districts have a rather high positivity rate, the Chief Secretary asked that testing be increased in the defined target clusters and vaccination be prioritized in the qualified population groups to resolve the deteriorating situation.
