Results for the 2023 Larimer County Coordinated Election release at 1:21 p.m. Wednesday afternoon showed that both measures, which would have gone to provide more funding for the Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, held at nearly the same percentages as Tuesday night; 2F saw 51.8% of the voters against the measure while 6B saw 51% yes votes, according to the Wednesday release.

Loveland fire chief: proposed sales tax increase would go toward firefighter training

The the proposed measure would increase the sales tax in the city by 0.37% to a total of 7.07%, according to previously published information. It would also include an increase to the rural-district mill levy in the Loveland Rural Fire Protection District from 8.708 mills to 11.186 mills, meaning an estimated $83.01 per year for a $500,000 home in the rural district.

The department announced in a Facebook post Wednesday morning that the Colorado Fire Training Officers Association had named Klaas the 2023 Larry Ketelhut Instructor of the Year Tuesday; the department added in its post that Assistant Chief Time Smith had nominated Klaas with endorsements from fire chiefs across Northern Colorado and the Front Range Fire Consortium Board of Directors.
