Jakarta (ANTARA) - Some 10 human rights watchdogs grouped in a civil society alliance highlighted the need for the Indonesian police to demonstrate accountability in the deaths of six slain members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI).
Police officers must meet the human rights standards in every action they take, though it is for law enforcement purposes, Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras) Coordinator Fatia Maulidiyanti remarked.
Kontras, along with nine other human rights defenders in Indonesia, responded to the outcomes of the National Commission on Human Rights' (Komnas HAM's) probe into the recent fatal shooting of six FPI members in a press statement on Friday.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is offering protection to witnesses who saw or knew about the December 7, 2020 fatal shootings of six members of the Islam Defenders Front (FPI).
"LPSK is ready to help uncover information in the case by protecting several key witnesses, to enable them to convey significant accounts about the incident, which has attracted public attention," according to the agency's deputy chief, Edwin Partogi Pasaribu.
The agency has received a proposal for protecting six witnesses, and its personnel continue to review the proposal, he said, adding that there were likely several more witnesses who might have important information.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) team of investigators on Wednesday handed over several substantial items of evidence of the FPI shooting case for examination at the National Police's central forensics laboratory facility.
"The ballistic testing is conducted transparently and responsibly by involving experts from state-owned weapons maker PT Pindad and representatives of civil society," Head of the commission's team of investigators, Choirul Anam, stated.
The ballistic testing was conducted through various stages for over 10 hours since 10 a.m. local time to confirm whether the metal under examination belonged to bullet shells and projectiles, he revealed.

JAKARTA: The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) has asked National Police to allow it to question policemen over the shooting of FPI members and examine the vehicles used by cops and FPI members on that day.
“To this end, the commission has written to chief of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Directorate, Coms.Gen.Listyo Sigit Prabowo, to notify him about the scheduled questioning session,” Komnas HAM chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik said.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate Chief Coms. Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo pledged to provide information required for the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) probe into the fatal shooting of six FPI members.
"I am ready (for that) if the Komnas HAM needs it," Prabowo noted in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (Dec 16) while speaking in connection with the Human Rights Commission's request for further details on the autopsied bodies of six slain FPI members.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Commission on Human Rights' (Komnas HAM's) investigators obtained several pieces of evidence from PT Jasa Marga over condition on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road on the day when six FPI members were shot dead.
The commission's team of investigators had also accrued necessary information from this state-owned toll road operator in their endeavors to uncover the fatal shooting case, Head of Komnas HAM's team of investigators, Choirul Anam, revealed.
