Christendom Begins In-Person Semester with Record Spring Enrollment

Christendom Begins In-Person Semester with Record Spring Enrollment Jan 25, 2021 Christendom College President Dr. Timothy O’Donnell welcomed students back to campus for another semester of in-person learning with his annual opening address on Friday, January 21, encouraging students to be “people of joy” and strive for holiness amidst the serious challenges facing America today. “I urge you this semester: don’t be distracted by the winds and the waves that are swirling around the outside world. Keep your eyes this semester fixed on Christ,” said O’Donnell. “Although iniquity abounds everywhere, we have to be sure that charity does not grow cold. We still need to be people of joy, we still need to be people of love who care about other people and that includes our enemies and those who persecute us. We need to love them and pray for them.”

Professor Dispels Myths About the Middle Ages in New Book

Dec 16, 2020 Christendom College professor and historian Steve Weidenkopf dispels common misconceptions about the Middle Ages in a new work: The Church and the Middle Ages: Cathedrals, Crusaders, and the Papacy in Exile. The book, now available for preorder, presents the era in the engaging, easy-to-understand style that Weidenkopf is known for, resulting in a vibrant retelling of one of the most important periods in Church history. Weidenkopf, who teaches Church history at Christendom’s Graduate School of Theology, has previously focused on this period in his acclaimed book The Glory of the Crusaders, but The Church and the Middle Ages takes an even broader and more ambitious look at the Middle Ages as a whole. Focusing on the years 1000-1378, Weidenkopf provides a clear picture of an era critics often use to undermine the Catholic Church.
