Cuyahoga County Executive Chris Ronayne has nominated Cleveland Division of Police Deputy Chief Harold Pretel to become the county's next sheriff.
Harold Pretel is currently Deputy Chief of Homeland Special Operations with the Cleveland Police Department. The county has had a succession of interim chiefs since 2019.
Deputy Chief Pretel has been with the Cleveland Police Department for nearly 30 years.
