Akron accepting new firemedics AKRON — The City of Akron is accepting applications for firemedic positions until Jan. 20. Applicants must be age 18-35 on the day of the written exam, scheduled to take place in mid-February, have a high school diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license with no more than 6 points.

Summit Metro Parks takes first steps in Gorge Dam removal project
The project began Monday with the removal of trees in a former de facto dumpsite at Cascade Valley Metro Park which will be used to hold approximately 900,000 cubic meters of contaminated sediment that rests behind the Gorge Dam in the Cuyahoga River.
