ZIMBABWE will soon have free-to-air digital television services through 12 stations following the successful and historic switch-over yesterday, from the analogue signal to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
Information,  Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa commissioned the country’s digitisation programme under the Zimbabwe Digital Broadcasting Migration at a landmark ceremony in Magunje, Mashonaland West.
The US$125 million migration project to switch over from analogue to digital commenced in 2015 and the nation failed to meet its deadline owing to several setbacks that included poor funding.
At least 18 transmitters, including the Karoi transmitter, have so far been completed from the targeted 48, mostly in areas that had challenges in receiving analogue signals.

Digitalisation To Usher 12 New TV Stations, Improve Disaster Coping

By James Muonwa In Magunje
INFORMATION, Media and Broadcasting Services minister Monica Mutsvangwa says the transformation of the media landscape from analogue to digital terrestrial television broadcasting will improve signal reach and quality as well as promote media pluralism in the country.
She said the digital switch-over was long overdue but would go a long way in opening up the airwaves through establishment of 12 new television channels and promoting government’s developmental programmes for the attainment of Vision 2030.
“Through the Zimbabwe digital broadcasting migration project that we are launching today, our citizens will enjoy access to 12 free-to-air digital television services in Zimbabwe.

Farewell Brig-General Moyo - Zimbabwe Today

Farewell Brig-General Moyo
My first military training was in Zambia at Mwembeshi Training Camp and we were transferred to Mgagao which was a Zanla training camp.
After the shoot-out at Mgagao, the OAU decided to transfer us to Morogoro where I first met Rodwell Nyika (Brig-General Collin Moyo Retired). He was a Zipra instructor at Morogoro Training Camp. He was one of my trainers in 1976. I think our group was the last group to receive military training at Morogoro.
From there the instructors were taken to Zambia and I was deployed to the war front in Feira where I operated for some time. Rodwell was also later deployed in Feira as the regional commander, replacing David Chibhoyi who is now late. Feira we are referring to places from Kanyemba up to Chirundu and to Mana Pools.
