Cicadas return to Middle Tennessee later this year and we're already seeing signs that they're preparing to emerge. According to local entomologists, it's predicted to be a noisy May, as a group of periodical cicadas makes a return.
It will be the first time in 221 years that two types of cicadas, brood XIX and XIII, have risen from the ground at the same time.
A rare emergence of both 13 year and 17 year periodical cicadas are coming to Oklahoma in late April/May.
