Tribal members are using their culture and expertise to help restore reefs in their ancestral Nansemond River.
The idea is to learn how oyster reefs can be deployed as the basis for living shorelines, said Kati Grigsby, Hampton Roads program assistant and restoration specialist with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, which is running the project along with the Nansemond River Preservation Alliance.
