County, Cities Begin Map-Drawing Process to Set How Local Government Officials Are Elected
Redistricting will be based on data gained from the latest U.S. Census Bureau count, and residents are invited to get involved

Every 10 years, local governments use new U.S. Census Bureau data to redraw district lines to reflect how local populations have changed since the last census count, and the new districts affect how government officials are elected for the next 10 years. ....

Das Williams, Meagan Harmon Compete for Coveted Vacant Seat on California Coastal Commission

Williams said he has received support and encouragement from other counties that he hopes will help him get the appointment. Williams is likely to receive the nomination from the Board of Supervisors on March 16. 
The County City Selections Committee is working on finding a date later this month to select its city council nominee, according to Jacquelyne Alexander, chief deputy clerk of the board. Harmon is expected to receive the nomination by the City Selections Committee.
If appointed, Harmon said she would have an active part in conversations about sea-level rise and balancing coastal protection with the needs for housing in the community. Harmon has been following the Coastal Commission very closely for a number of years and wants the opportunity to have a seat at the table during those discussions, she said. ....
