What do changes to Quebec's unmarried partners laws mean to you
Bill 56 would amend the Civil Code to create a parental union, which would protect unmarried couples who have or adopt children after June 30, 2025 by equally dividing certain assets if the partners separate. Unmarried couples, with or without children, whose relationship predates the new law can decide to opt in.
