A Navy sailor in Virginia died this week from complications connected to COVID-19, the service announced on Tuesday.
The sailor, who was part of Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek’s Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 4, died on Monday after checking into a hospital in Norfolk, Va., on Saturday, according to a Navy statement. ....

The Navy has identified a sailor assigned to an amphibious warship based in Norfolk, Va., who died on Friday from complications related to COVID-19.
Aviation Support Equipment Technician 1st Class Marcglenn L. Orcullo, age 42 of Hawai, assigned to USS
Wasp (LHD-1), was hospitalized on Jan. 17 at Sentara Princess Anne hospital in Virginia Beach, Va., and then transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Jan. 29, according to ESG 2.
“We offer our condolences and join the sailor’s family, friends and shipmates in mourning the loss of this sailor. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time,” read a Friday statement. ....

Two sailors died of the illness caused by the coronavirus this week, bringing the total number of U.S. troops killed by the illness to at least 20.
Chief Quartermaster Herbert Rojas, a 50-year-old staff instructor at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, Illinois, died of COVID-19 on Tuesday. Rojas was quarantining in his off-base residence after testing positive for the virus when he was found unresponsive, said Lt. Cmdr. Phil Chitty, a Naval Service Training Command spokesman
He failed to wake up to an alarm clock. His girlfriend attempted to wake him, Chitty said. Local police were then dispatched to the scene, and he was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. ....

An instructor at the Navy’s Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes Ill., has died from complications related to the COVID-19 virus, the service announced on Friday.
Chief Quartermaster Herbert Rojas, 50, died on Tuesday in his quarters, where he had been quarantining since Jan. 27, training command spokesman Lt. Cmdr. Phillip Chitty told USNI News. ....
