Kansas City, Missouri suspect arrested in Jefferson County

Fairfield, IA- The Jefferson County Sheriff's office has announced the arrest of a Kansas City man following a vehicle pursuit, and brief manhunt. According to a news release, at about 4 PM Wednesday, October 19th, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was notified of a high-speed pursuit entering the east side of Jefferson County of Highway 34, and the Iowa State Patrol and the US Marshalls requested assistance with the pursuit. Jefferson County deputies spotted the suspect vehicle near Lockridge and pursued it to the east side of Fairfield. The suspect, later identified as 22-year-old Sean Diontae Frost of Kansas City, Missouri, lost control of his vehicle, crossed the median and entered the opposite side of the highway before coming to a rest and fleeing into a wooded area on foot. Authorities immediately set up a perimeter around the area, and Frost was located by authorities at about 7:12 PM. Deputies also recovered a handgun that frost abandoned in a field. Frost is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on charges of Interference of Official Acts while Armed with a Firearm, Eluding, Excessive Speed, and Reckless Driving. Frost has pending charges of Unlawful use/Possession of a Weapon in Clay County Missouri and Resisting arrest Creating a Substantial Risk of Injury/Death in Cooper County Missouri. Frost is also wanted on charges of Aggravated Assault Criminal Discharge of a Firearm in Johnson County, Kansas. He is being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.

Officials of the Clay County Public Health Center have updated their emergency order.Effective immediately, Clay County restaurants, bars, and taverns may resume permitted operating hours.No longer is there a limit on gathering size in the county, however, everyone at those gatherings must follow mask and social distancing guidelines. Mask should still be worn at all indoor spaces and outdoors when physical distancing can not be maintained.
