Clemson Rowing Announces 2024 Spring Schedule

CLEMSON, S.C. - Head Coach Stephen Fazier Wong and the Clemson Rowing program announced Wednesday its 2024 Spring Schedule. Joining Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong, Associate Head Coach Ted Nagorsen, Assistant Coach Mandy Merritt, and Graduate Assistant Coach Ciera Devenuto-Wyeth this season is recently hired Assistant Coach Amy Hildebrandt.  Leading the Tigers this season are captains Caroline Emerson and Kristen Dutkin. Julia Walsh, Amelia Anglin and Abby Dutton join Emerson and Dutkin to make up the 2023-2024 Leadership Council.  The Tigers enter the 2024 Spring Season following a successful fall season where they raced in the Head of the Oklahoma and the Secret City Head Race. At the Head of the Oklahoma, Clemson’s Varsity Eights took home first place and its Novice 8+ defeated all four Tennessee boats to win first place at the Secret City Head Race.  Clemson will open its spring season with two home races on Lake Hartwell, starting with the Carolina Cup on Saturday, March 2nd

Caroline Emerson | Motivation Behind the Rower

CLEMSON, S.C. - Caroline Emerson is a three-time ACC All-Academic Rowing Team member and has committed the last five years of college to helping Clemson’s Rowing program succeed on multiple levels. Although her love for rowing is strong, her true motivation comes from something far deeper than most Division I athletes.  Emerson, who hails from Moore, South Carolina, has a motivation that few can relate to, but one that drives her each and every day. Her younger twin brothers – Will and John -  were diagnosed with autism when they were born. However, autism has not kept either of them from living their best lives as college freshman, something Emerson takes a tremendous amount of pride in.  “Will is a freshman at North Greenville University and John is an engineering major here at Clemson within the ClemsonLIFE program and both are thriving. Clemson Finishes Fall Season Strong at the Secret City Head Race

Oak Ridge, Tenn. – The Clemson rowing team finished their fall season strong at the Secret City Head Race on Saturday, Oct. 14 in Oak Ridge, Tenn. “It is incredibly fun to see our Novice Tigers race for the very first time with the Paw on their uniform and on their oars” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “Not only did they earn their medals today, but they also earned their stripes.”  The Novice 8+ started the racing for Clemson at 10:30 a.m. and won first place with a 20:30.5 time, beating all four of Tennessee's boats. At 11:50 a.m., three of Clemson’s boats raced each other in the Open 8+ where their A boat finished first at 18:26.0, C boat finished second at 18:50.8 and B boat finished third at 19:30.3. Next, Clemson’s A boat won the Novice 4+ at 23:02.5 with their B boat following shortly behind at 23:28.3 for second place.
