Mayor Phillip Jones and newly elected council members Curtis Bethany III, John Eley III and Cleon Long took their oaths of office Tuesday morning before a judge at city hall. At the same ceremony, Bethany was elected vice mayor on a 6-1 vote.

Tuesday night marked the final City Council meeting for Mayor McKinley Price, Vice Mayor Saundra Cherry, and councilmembers Sharon Scott and David Jenkins. The four departing members used their last meeting to reflect on their time on the council and to thank those who worked with them along the way.
