Bloomfield Hills 'Yellow Cottage' mansion started as modest farmhouse
The color of a daffodil, this picturesque ranch started life as a modest farmhouse. It had two bedrooms, a living room, dining room and kitchen. It shows on a 1920s Bloomfield Township map, labeled “Yellow Cottage.” Today, two massive additions have enlarged it past 8,000 square feet. With its current flexible room use, it now has three living rooms, plus three sitting rooms, a galley for art, a sunroom and a library. One large wing is the four-room owners’ suite. In another large wing, each child has his or her own suite plus a shared mudroom, laundry and kids’ living room.
