Over the last several years, citizens in Europe have been randomly selected to participate in specific policy debates. But to make an impact, selection-based participation needs to be more integrated into mainstream democratic politics.

As Glasgow prepares to greet the biggest number of world leaders the UK has ever hosted, we spoke to Scottish supermodel and climate activist Eunice Olumide and Nadine Mulgrew, one of 120 people who took part in this year's Climate Assemblies.

With a law that will define specific obligation for ministries and public bodies but also the participation of citizens and the scientific community in the formulation of actions for environmental protection, the government is seeking to tackle climate change.
