VACCINATIONS BEGIN: First local front line personnel are vaccinated in soft opening

Those were the words of hospitalist Dr. Raymond Kiser, the first Bartholomew County resident to get the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, as he greeted a fellow healthcare worker who’d just gotten the same shot. 
Thursday afternoon, six Columbus Regional Health workers received the first COVID-19 vaccines to be administered in Bartholomew County. Five were Columbus residents, and one was from Shelbyville.
The 975 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived earlier Thursday at around 11:30 a.m., said CRH spokeswoman Kelsey DeClue. Hospital officials have said that about 1,950 doses are expected in the next shipment, but a delivery date has not yet been set. She said that 240 healthcare workers have signed up to be vaccinated on Friday  a number that hits the daily maximum. ....
