Shotton HMO plans receive the green light

PLANS to convert a family home in Shotton into a house in multiple occupation (HMO) have been given the green light after concerns it could lead to more crime were dismissed.
Senior councillors were told last month that an increasing number of complaints have been raised about crime in the town.
As a result, members of the ruling Labour cabinet appoved the creation of a master plan to improve the area.
Fears were raised that the latest proposals for a five-bedroom HMO on Chester Road East could jeopardise efforts to regenerate the town by adding to the anti-social behaviour problems. ....

Landlords of HMO in Saltney prosecuted

LANDLORDS of a Flintshire property have been prosecuted for several breaches of legislation designed to protect tenants living in rented accommodation.
Flintshire County Council s Environmental Health Officers had served an Improvement Notice in March 2019 following an inspection of the House in Multiple Occupation (HMO), 64 Park Avenue in Saltney.
This notice required works to address serious fire, excess cold, carbon monoxide and electrical hazards at the property. Amongst other deficiencies, there were no working fire alarms, no fire doors, exposed live wires and no working heating system at the property.
The landlord subsequently claimed to several agencies that the property was no longer a rental property, however, an inspection undertaken in November 2019 found that the property was still occupied by the same tenants and that the Improvement Notice had not been complied with. ....
