Clare FM 7th April 2021 Parents of pupils at an East Clare school are calling on the Government to invest now in their children’s future, rather than paying the price in years to come. Clooney National School is at risk of losing one of its teachers, as there were only 73 pupils enrolled at the school in September; six shy of the threshold to retain a fourth teacher under the Department of Education’s Enrolment Schedule for 2021/22. The school is currently exploring the appeals process and parents are now coming together to highlight their concern over the impact losing a teacher could have on their children’s education. ....

Clare FM 13th December 2020 3 Clare national schools are to receive broadband access within two years. The government has announced that, as part of a speeding up of the rollout of the National Broadband Plan, high-speed internet connectivity will be delivered to 679 primary schools nationally by the end of 2022, even though some had been expected to have to wait for up to seven years. The first 25 of those have already been connected, including Ennistymon National School.
