Sheriff's deputies Monday were investigating the weekend death of a 13-year-old Gainesville girl killed in a shooting in southwest Gainesville. Maliyah Godwin was shot just before 10 p.m. Friday in Building A of the Majestic Oaks Apartments complex and died after being taken to a local hospital, according to Lt. Kaley Behl of the Alachua County Sheriff's Office. She is the only known victim. No arrests have been made, although the case is being actively investigated, Behl said.
