hate. the tsa and ticket fees. add them together. what is it that s prompting them to ask for more? reporter: the agency backed by democrats in the senate wants to increase the security fee everyone pays for the ticket. from $2.50 a flight to $5 per one-way ticket. $10 round trip. 10 s pushing it to a limit. i guess it s only $5 more but i wonder, you know, how that fits in. they already have a budget. reporter: tsa s budget is set to be cut. the agency says boosting this fee would help cover the increasing price of security like the costly scanners. the fee hasn t been hiked in ten years. but a powerful lobby is pushing against it. airlines. they don t want the cost shifted onto their customers. air security is a national security function and something all of us need to be behind as americans, and the government should be picking up the cost. reporter: many travelers we talked to didn t mind. it s like using a toll road. you use a toll road you pay the t ....

our eyes are on the skies, and this peculiar sunday night mystery. hi, everybody, it s 10:00 in the east. glad you re with us. i m alina cho sitting in for don lemon tonight, and we begin with the bad weather bearing down on the southeast. tropical storm beryl fast approaching hurricane strength and near landfall. you can see the palm trees struggling against the waves. waves onshore. this is jekyll island. flooding obviously a big concern, and beaches all along the southeast coast are posting warnings about the dangers of rip currents. for the past 24 hours, lifeguards and emts have been working overtime rescuing those who have ignored the warnings. our jacqui jeras is watching it all for us. a couple of questions. number one, pretty close to hurricane strength, right? yeah. and how close are we to landfa landfall? we re close. landfall not so important with this storm. it s a big storm, and there s going to be very widespread impacts. there you see the rain wh ....

16-year-olds on this show. good morning, welcome to early start on this monday. i m ashleigh banfield. happy to have you this morning. i m zoraida sambolin. let s get started. tropical storm beryl making landfall in northeastern florida near jacksonville beach. it s packing a wallop, 70-mile-per-hour winds, torrential rain, more than 24,000 people without power this morning in the area. take a look at the pictures on your screen. that shows you the wind. the wind warnings, storm warnings all up along the atlantic coast from florida to georgia to the carolinas, putting a severe dent in a lot of the memorial day festivities. rob marciano has been pretty much up all night in the severe weather center watching all of this. things getting better tleels for now? well, the wind has died down but the rain is still coming. this event is far from over. at one point winds at 70 miles an hour, almost a hurricane. and some could argue that it was a minimal category 1 hurrica ....
