Bill declaring Davao City, Davao Region as chocolate, cacao capitals passed
CAPITAL. Voting 22-0-1, the Senate passed on Monday, March 8, Senate Bill 1741 (SB 1741), also known as An Act declaring the City of Davao as the Chocolate Capital of the Philippines and the entire Region XI (Davao Region) as the Cacao Capital of the Philippines. The bill was sponsored by Senator Cynthia A. Villar, chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture. (RJ Lumawag)

Villar launches bid to declare Davao City and Davao region the country's chocolate, cacao capital

In her sponsorship speech on Senate Bill 1741, Villar said Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) data indicated that the biggest bulk of the country’s annual cacao production came from Davao Region.
Senator Ronald ‘’Bato’’ dela Rosa, a native of the Davao region, also delivered a sponsorship speech on the same issue.
PSA data show that approximately 78.76 percent of annual production of cacao in the Philippines comes from the Davao region composed of Davao del Sur, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental.
They are the top five producers in terms of volume of production. ....

Villar vouches to declare Davao City as the Chocolate Capital of the Philippines and Region Xl (Davao .region) as Cacao Capital of the Philippines
CITING Philippines Statistic Authority (PSA) data which showed that the biggest bulk of the country s annual cacao production came from Davao Region, Sen. Cynthia A. Villar yesterday sought to declare Davao City as the Chocolate Capital of the Philippines, and Region XI (Davao Region) as the Cacao Capital of the Philippines.
In her Sponsorship Speech on the proposed Senate Bill 1741, Villar said PSA record indicated that approximately 78.76% of annual production of cacao in the Philippines came from the Davao region composed of Davao del Sur, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao de Oro and Davao Occidental.
