FBI bulletin: Armed protests planned in all 50 states between now and Inauguration Day

Pierre Thomas has more on a warning from the FBI about possible armed protests planned in all 50 states over the next 10 days.
Ed Farrell, the former Deputy US Marshal in Chicago, said regular law enforcement will need National Guard backup at some locations.
"There's obviously a big effort to stop and deter these actors before they become operational, which is going to be big," Farrell said. "They're going to be gathering intelligence on these individuals, they will be surveilling these individuals. And if they're able to get probable cause to arrest them, I would imagine you're going to see some arrests of bad actors. Additionally, I think you're going to see an elevated security presence at all government facilities, they're going to limit access to the buildings, they're going to put up barricades, they're going to close doors. Things to prevent people from coming in during this elevated risk time."

FBI Houston tracking down threats ahead of Inauguration Day

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- With just days before Inauguration Day, the FBI Houston division said it will focus on gathering and coordinating with local partners on potential threats between now and Jan. 20.
In a statement released Thursday, the FBI said the agency has not received any specific threat. FBI Houston also announced it is actively working on identifying those who were involved in the siege of the Capitol and those who continue to incite violence and engage in criminal activity in Houston.
A new FBI assessment obtained by ABC News says individuals or groups could converge around the country and threaten or use violence at events planned to occur through at least Inauguration Day.

Houston police officer Tam Pham believed to be part of US Capitol riot, Acevedo says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A Houston police officer was identified Wednesday as part of the thousands who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, which interrupted a Congressional joint session to certify Joe Biden's electoral win and left five people dead, including a U.S. Capitol police officer, according to Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo.
"On Sunday, I received information from an individual that one of my officers may have been in D.C. for the protest and that they may have participated in the attack on the Capitol," Acevedo said. "This individual has been determined that, on his own time to not only have attended a rally, which is their First Amendment right, but this individual is determined to have actually penetrated the Capitol."
