The Karnataka High Court, which is hearing the petitions against the Hijab ban, has requested the state government to reopen educational institutions and also restrained the students from wearing saffron shawls, scarves, Hijab and any religious flag within the classroom.
Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana said the apex court will have to think over "whether it is proper to bring those things to Delhi as a national level issue".
The happenings in BJP-ruled Karnataka as the " hijab controversy" is misleading. It is nothing of the kind. It is an outright assault on the right to education of young Muslim women, guaranteed to them by the law and the Constitution of India.
By any standard of lawful action, the forcible prevention of girls from entering college without notice and without reason violates basic principles of rule of law.
