UC to develop new cancer treatments

A chemical engineering professor at the University of Cincinnati will work with a South Korean pharmaceutical company to develop new cancer treatments using the technology found in some COVID-19 vaccines UC College of Engineering and Applied Science professor Joo-Youp Lee will work with Yuhan Corp. and Ewha Womans University in South Korea to improve the delivery of treatments that use messenger RNA and lipid nanoparticles. This technology also is being used to treat infectious diseases and genetic disorders.

February 2021 was the first time that first-year University of Cincinnati student Zedekia Samara had ever encountered real snow.
“It’s refreshing to look at, but the feel of it on the other hand,” Samara says with a hearty laugh on a Zoom call from his UC residence in Morgens Hall.
Samara is one of two students from Tanzania, East Africa, who are attending UC as Global Opportunity Scholars. He arrived on campus in January and the second student and roommate, Timoth Akama, arrived in mid-February. Although they both settled into UC housing at the height of a Cincinnati winter, and during a worldwide pandemic, they have managed to maintain sunny dispositions. ....

Alex Lewis lost her 82-year-old grandfather to COVID-19 just five weeks before her dream school showed up on the front steps of Roger Bacon High School to tell the senior that she had been admitted to the University of Cincinnati College of Nursing as part of a touching Decision Day surprise effort this year.
