LUMBINI, April 20: The Jit Gadhi festival is being observed today in Butwal in Rupandehi district. The festival is celebrated here every year to mark the victory over the British government (then East India Company) by the Nepal Army. A Nepal Army led by Colonel Ujir Singh Thapa conquered the Jitgadhi fort on April 20, 1815 AD by taking down the British Army. ....
