COLORADO SPRINGS, Colorado — More than 30 local restaurants and businesses have teamed up to hold a hiring event Thursday morning in Colorado Springs. The job fair will be held at the Pinery at the Hill at 775 W. Bijou Street from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Mackenzie Tamayo, the COVID-19 Program Manager for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) said there s a shortage of employees in Colorado s restaurant and hospitality industries. These businesses have lost roughly 30 percent of their workforce during the pandemic, or about 70,000 positions statewide. ....

Pikes Peak Workforce Center offers funding for retail and hospitality businesses


The Pikes Peak Workforce Center is offering up to $50,000 to retail and hospitality businesses to provide employee training opportunities. The deadline to apply for funding is May 25.

Business owners operating food and beverage, tourism, or retail businesses in El Paso and Teller counties may be eligible for a new infusion of funding for employee training, courtesy of the Pikes Peak Workforce Center.
The center is offering up to $50,000 to qualifying businesses through a partnership with Walmart s Lives Empowered program and the Colorado Workforce Development Council. The funding must be used to help increase the competitiveness of employees and employers, according to a press release issued May 12, such as creating new training programs for employees. ....
