A man charged with murder three years ago in the stabbing death of his boyfriend at an East Side apartment was acquitted Friday afternoon after a week-long jury trial in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. The jury deliberated for only about two hours before returning the not-guilty verdict for Anthony C. Wofford III. The jurors watched cellphone video that a witness, Wilkerson s teenage nephew, recorded of a fight that immediately preceded the stabbing in Wofford s apartment in the 5600 block of Hibernia Drive. The video shows Wilkerson assaulting Wofford, including slamming his head against a door and dragging him across the floor by his hair. The video ends as Wofford lunges toward the kitchen, where he grabbed a knife used in the stabbing. ....

Smith, 26, a former Columbus resident whom court records state now lives in Marion, pleaded guilty in October to a felony count of unlawfully possessing a hoax weapon of mass destruction and a misdemeanor count of carrying a concealed weapon. The sentence was imposed by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Sheryl Munson, who said Smith faces 18 months in prison if he violates probation. She placed him on the probation department s mental-health caseload.
