Groundbreaking held for Traffic Way pedestrian and accessibility improvements

–The City of Atascadero will start construction on Traffic Way between US 101 and El Camino Real beginning on Wednesday, April 14. A groundbreaking ceremony was recently conducted by City Council to celebrate the kick-off for the construction project.
Traffic Way, a widely used connection to the downtown area, will receive safety improvements to the sidewalk, curb ramps, and a portion of the roadway, between the US 101 overcrossing and El Camino Real. The improvements will be constructed on both sides of the street. These improvements are funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant Program, which focuses on the removal of barriers to pedestrian use and increases accessibility under the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). In addition to improving pedestrian mobility and accessibility through this corridor, the new sidewalks will match current City downtown area aesthetics including decorative pavers along the curb. ....

RANDOLPH During a tour on Wednesday U.S. Rep. Ayanna Pressley called Randolph s vaccination site a national model.
Randolph was one of 20 communities hardest hit by the pandemic that the state let keep a local vaccination site, and leaders there have been able to use the site and other local clinics to administer more than 13,000 shots.
Randolph proves that when they get the resources they know what to do with them, Pressley said. It s the public s health, even though there are some communities that have been hardest hit by the pandemic, everyone has been impacted, and in the interest of public health we can t leave anyone behind. ....

CROCKETT, Texas (KTRE) - The City of Crockett continues its efforts to revitalize their town, and city officials say the work is not just about appearances.
It’s a sight and sound many are experiencing across Crockett. Mayor Ianthia Fisher said the city has conducted extension work in phases since 2018.
“The long term is we’re in the process of revitalizing our community,” Fisher said. “With the emphasis of basically starting downtown and spreading abroad.” ....

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - City leaders, in collaboration with the Parks and Recreation Department, announced the grand opening of two new parks in the Columbia area.
Fairwold Park will be located on the 5900 block of Eddy Street. The parkâs hours are from dawn until dusk.
This park was made possible with funding provided through HUDâs Community Development Block Grant program in which the parks and recreation department was awarded $219,534. The department also received an additional $50,000 from Well Fargoâs Neighborhood Lift grant to help complete the park. The total investment was around $270,000. ....
