Guys access, then you also give the bad guys access. that s where we stand at this moment. any time something like this happens, it ignites the debate all over again, poppy. kimberly, could these tech companies laurie s talking about, the biggest ones, apple, google, could they be forced in any way to hand over this data? would it mean a complete rewriting of the laws? well, you know, that s how it used to work. when a court would rule that they had to turn over that bulk phone data to the nsa. because the nsa was looking through that data to see if they took a number from terrorists and see who had called that number. the companies had no choice in that case. what this bill would do was protect them when they hand over information voluntarily related to hacking. so this is a little bit different. but they cannot be forced at this point in time to hand over the other encrypted data? at this point, it s part of their package and their compact ....

CNN CNN Democratic Debate October 17, 2015 03:12:00

As a young student in nevada said to me the hardest thing about going to college should not be paying for it. then we have to make it more affordable. how do we make it more affordable? my plan would enable anyone to go to a public college or university tuition free. you would not have to borrow money for tuition. but i do believe, and maybe it s because i worked when i went through college, i worked when i went through law school, i think it s important for everybody to have some part of getting this accomplished. that s why i call it a compact. i would like students to work ten hours a week in order to make it possible for them to afford their education and i want colleges to get their costs down. they re outrageously high in what they re charging. the question was not just about tuition, though. it was about senator sanders plan to expand social security, to make medicare available to all americans. is that something that you would support? and if not, why not? well, i fully su ....

Giving all americans medicare. what s wrong with that? well, let me address college affordabili affordability. i have a plan that i think will really zero in on what the problems are. first, all the 40 million americans who currently have student debt will be able to refinance their debt to a low interest rate. that will save thousands of dollars for people who are now struggling under this cumbersome, burdensome college debt. as a young student in nevada said the hardest thing about going to college should not be paying for it. my plan would enable anyone to go to a public college or university tuition free. you would not have to borrow money for division. but i do believe, and maybe it s because i worked when i went through college. i worked when i went through high school. i think it s important for everybody to have some part of getting this accomplished. that s why i call it a compact. ....

University twice free. you would not have to borrow money for tuition. but i do believe, and maybe it s because i worked when i went through college, i worked when i went through law school, i think it s important for everybody to have some part of getting this accomplished. that s why i call it a compact. i would like students to work ten hours a week in order to make it possible for them to afford their education and i want colleges to get their costs down. they re outrageously high in what they re charging. the question was not just about tuition, though. it was about senator sanders plan to expand social security, to make medicare available to all americans. is that something that you would support? and if not, why not? well, i fully support social security and the most important fight we re going to have is defending it against continuing republican efforts to privatize it. do you want to privatize it? i want to enhance the benefits for the poorest recipients of social se ....

I will run on that record all day long. you don t think it will be a liability? at the end of the day, the jobs you re talking about that grew and expanded were jobs overseas for the hp compact. that is false. there were no net american jobs. that is false. that is false, chuck. that is false. here s the thing about business, politicians can spin words. but in business you actually have a record of results and, in fact, i had to stand up and report those results every single quarter, and if i misrepresented our results in any way over a six-year period or misrepresented our projections, i could be held criminally liable. imagine if any other candidate running for president was held to that same account. there were many jobs that left california. and you know where they went? to the state of texas. because the state of texas had a set of policies in place that made job creation and job salvation easier than the state of california. this is what democrats always want to talk abou ....
