thanks for joining me. i m jessica dean in for fredericka witfield. we begin in gaza, where israel defense forces have launched a blistering assault following a weeks-long pause in fighting. it carried out more than 400 strikes in gaza since the ceasefire expired yesterday. those strikes include targets in southern gaza, an area that had remained largely unscathed during israel s initial military campaign. talks of a new truce have reached a, quote, dead end, according to benjamin netanyahu s office. israel recalling its team of negotiating from qatar, blaming hamas for the breakdown in talks and accusing the terror group of not fulfilling its promise to return all women and children being held hostage. the idf says there are 136 hostages remaining in gaza, including 17 women and children. we have a team of correspondents. we start first with oren liebermann in tel aviv. we just laid out how israel is expanding its attacks in gaza. tell us more what about what we re seeing to
